A city state once considered grey is emerging as one of the world’s greenest destinations and most happening business hubs. In this exciting place, the Tower Club is the premier meeting place for the leading lights of Singapore.
Although it is one of Asia’s smallest countries, everything in Singapore is on a grand scale, from gleaming skyscrapers shaped like giant ironing boards to the otherworldly Gardens by the Bay with the high-tech Supertrees and biodomes. According to investment research, in 2022 Singapore ranked fifth amongst the most prosperous countries in the world and this wealth is tangible throughout the city, from the stunning futuristic international airport, the jaw-dropping buildings on every corner and the unique cultural melange that infuses the city’s streets.
Surprisingly, Singapore is also one of the greenest cities in the world, with nearly half of the city’s land allocated to parks and gardens, and numerous vertical gardens sprawling up buildings. This transformation is thanks to the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which aims to transform the city into a haven of green projects over coming few years, with parks on every corner, eco-friendly energy sources and a circular economy.
Quite apart from business, there’s no shortage of reasons to visit Singapore. In early autumn, the Formula 1 first night race takes over the city, celebrated with a weekend of parties and events. The city is also a foodie paradise and, with its long history of migration, is the perfect spot to explore countless colourful cultures and cuisines. As befits a wealthy city-state, Singapore is home to a thriving cosmopolitan business community, many of whom are members of the Tower Club, one of the most exclusive members-only clubs in the country.
Singapore‘s premier private club since 1997
Sitting trim on a corner of Raffles Square, only a short drive away from the iconic hotel, the club occupies the penthouse (62nd – 64th floor) of the Republic Tower Plaza. A high-speed lift whisks guests up to the penthouse, where the doors open on to the magnificent lobby with its glossy marble floors and breathtaking views across Singapore’s city skyline to the Singapore Strait. Cosy groups of armchairs and sofas cluster appealingly, inviting you to linger and soak up the view. The club was extensively refurbished in 2017 and was designed to offer an immersive and luxurious experience. The look is very much dominated by indulgent luxury, thick carpets, art deco details, gold accents and lustrous chandeliers.
The main dining hall is the magnificent Atlantic, which also has five private dining suites. The fine dining location takes pride in its contemporary European cuisine and unrivalled wine list. Specials include the Degustation Menu, with a choice of four or five courses and optional wine pairing.
The club’s Ba Xian Dining Room has established itself as one of Singapore’s best Chinese restaurants, serving expertly-crafted, delicate yet sumptuous Cantonese-style cuisine with warm Asian hospitality. Reflecting Singapore’s rich Chinese heritage, the décor is Chinois chic – contemporary with subtle touches of oriental style. With its rich, opulent hues of gold and silk, Ba Xian Dining Room offers a truly unforgettable dining experience. Every Saturday, the restaurant hosts Delightful Saturday Dim Sum, where the focus is on melt-in-the-mouth dumplings – perfectly paired with a glass of Champagne.
The Club’s restaurants serve curated monthly picks, including a juice and cocktail of the month, choice additions to the menu, such as Boston lobster or Taiwanese-style Kurobuta pork stew rice, and the very popular Afternoon Tea with a View, which is served in Straits Bar on a classic three-tier stand and includes freshly baked scones with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and tempting desserts.
Straits Bar invites guests to leave the day’s cares at the door and unwind to views of the sparkling South China Sea. Rose gold gives the bar plenty of sparkle and glow. A dedicated cigar and whisky room within the bar allows guests to enjoy a cigar and choose from the range of whiskies, which is displayed and lit with special luminaires to highlight the jewel tones of each dram. There’s an international buffet lunch spread by day – curated by visiting chefs – and by night, the bar extends an irresistible invitation to contemplate the sunset with a signature cocktail as the night lights of the city come to life.
Socialise and work in style
The club has eleven luxurious private Western and Chinese dining and meeting rooms that allow for board meetings, seated or cocktail functions of up to 200. Audio visual equipment is available on request. Club events, including the annual golf championships and breakfast and dinner forums, give members and guests the opportunity to mingle with like-minded individuals. To ensure that members and guests enjoy a relaxing dining experience, there is a Smart Casual/Elegant, strictly no casuals dress code.
Tower Club looks forward to welcoming members from reciprocal clubs and treating them to the best of Singaporean conviviality.
